Columbus schools are designed to prepare its students for leadership, service and to empower them for success. Quality educators and great learning environments have been key factors in Columbus’ achievement. The city has 220 public schools, 271 private schools, and 65 charter schools. Bluffsview Elementary School

The driving philosophy for Bluffsview students involve “inquiry,” “integration,” and “intervention.” The inquiry teaching method centers around sharing ideas and information about recent events. A question and answer environment is more than asking questions. Instead the teachers provide a format which allows students to take their thinking processes to a new level. Integration is a method of comprehensive learning along with the school’s curriculum requirements to enhance each student’s learning abilities. Bluffsview intervention environment is to make sure that the needs of each student are met. Intervention is addressed at each student’s learning level and is overseen by an intervention specialists, an ELL teacher, the classroom teachers, and reading specialists. Assessments are given at regular intervals to monitor each students progress.

The vision of McCord Middle School is to support and challenge each student’s intellectual, social, emotional, and physical well-being. Each student takes an assessment for their creative and academic excellence. Their skills are encouraged, nurtured, and empowered. The McCord Middle School provides a safe, creative, and inclusive community to learn through meaningful experiences. The McCord’s mission statement is to provide a nurturing, challenging, and safe environment where students can discover their emerging potential, discover their own identities, and teach them how to contribute to their community.

Grandview Heights High School student’s are introduced to advanced placement course work and exams. The partnership of teachers, counselors, administrators and parents gives students an environment to learn in ways that prepare them for higher learning. Specific learning options are provided for each student, which consists of earning credit through Option A: completed coursework curriculum; Option B: high achievement test out; and Option C: pursue varying educational options. Each credit achieved by the students enables them to a special placement in their career choices. The Option C credits are given to students who opt to take educational travel, community service, internships in their of studies, distance learning, and online coursework.
